We interact with many parts of the business supporting Sales, Procurement, Player Services, Security, Retail Provisioning, Technology and Business Assurance. We manage the day to day cash and cash forecasting of Camelot and oversee the weekly collection of monies from over 25,000 independent retailers who sell National Lottery tickets and scratchcards. We also make regular payments to Camelot’s suppliers who service our business. We often deal with high tier prizes and regularly pay life-changing amounts of money to our winners!
Our people have to be committed and focused. Working in finance, we obviously operate in a financial control environment, therefore, we have to follow processes like all other FTSE based organisations should, so being process driven is key. We have a broad range of skill sets within our team, from qualified accountants to process administration roles which is necessary for us to deliver the various demands placed on us by the business. Working in such a diverse team means that exposure to other areas outside of finance is greater, communication therefore, is a key strength of our team as we are regularly dealing with people from a non-financial world.
We try to organise lots of social activities for the team; a recent favourite was a bowling night which was great fun. The Christmas lunches are always a big hit with us and we are always excited to attend the finance away days with our colleagues from the wider department. As a team we are passionate about taking advantage of the two volunteer days that every Camelot employee gets each year, to support projects in our local community. Recently some of us helped out at Watford Mencap by painting fences and brightening up the garden at the Children's Centre and it was a really rewarding day. It is a brilliant way to get to know colleagues from other finance teams outside of work.
