From our very own information security team
Becky, Our Information Security GRC Manager and her team celebrated Safer Internet day with us this week. The Camelot Info Sec team believe that everyone should discuss and explore internet safety in this current climate. Here is what she had to say:
This week, the world celebrated Safer Internet Day which provides a brilliant and fun way to discuss and explore online safety for you and your family. It aims to create both a safer and a better internet, where everyone is empowered to use technology responsibly, respectfully, critically and creatively. The campaign aims to reach out to children and young people, parents and carers, teachers, educators and social workers, as well as industry, decision makers and politicians, to encourage everyone to play their part in creating a better internet.
The internet is a wonderful place that offers so many opportunities for adults and children to learn, connect and play. As the internet is always changing, being able to keep up to date with your own and families use can sometimes feel overwhelming (especially if your children know how to use technology better than you).
There are various sources which can help you achieve internet safety, and here are a couple of top tips from https://www.saferinternet.org.uk/
Get the conversation started! These conversation starters can be between you and your family, or between you and you! It is important to recognise your own online behaviours and set the example for other people.
The National Online Safety organisation has some fantastic guides relating to online safety for specific applications such as; TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tumblr. There are also many guides for online safety for parents, including how to help combat and deal with Cyber Bullying.
